Nazir Hussain

Nazir Hussain was a talented and famous character actor, director and screenwriter of hindi films being active in cinema from 1953 to 1984
. He acted in almost 500 films, with Dev Anand starring in a large proportion of the films he acted in.
Nazir hussain was born in Usia a village in Ghazipur district of Uttar Pradesh on 15.5.1922 but grew up in Lucknow. He initially worked as a fireman, then joined British indian army during word war-2 , got imprisoned and later joined Azad hind Fauz of Netaji Subash chandra bose and thus became a freedom fighter.
After that he became unemployed and looked for acting career in Calcutta where he met Bimal Roy and became his assistant and joined with him to make the film Pahela Aadmi in which he not only acted but also wrote the story and dialogues . The film released in 1950 proved a hit and Nazir became a star and permanent associate of Bimal roy .
Later, he worked in many socialist themed films such as Do Bigha Zamin, Devdas and Naya Daur .
He got invoved as actor , screenplay and dialogue writer for devanand’s film Munimji in 1955 . After that he appeared as a character actor for most of Devanand’s films
His acted in several movies from 1950 onwards namely Devdas (1955) , Naya daur and Musafir ( 1957) , yahudi and Parvarish in 1958 ,Kalapani in 1958, Insan Jaag Utha 1959 , Parakh , Bombai Ka Babu, Shriman Satyawadi all in 1960 , Aas Ka Panchhi , Gunga Jumna , passport all in 1961 , sahab Bibi Aur Ghulam , Ganga maiya thorey piri chadhibo , Asli Naqli all in 1962 ,Dil Hi To hai , Laagi Nahi Chhute Ram , Bahurani all in 1963 , Kashmir Ki Kali,
Leader , Ayee Milan Ki Bela all in 1964 , Jewel Thief,
Ram Aur Shyam, Chandan Ka Palna , hare kanch ki churiyan, shagird all in 1967 , Sadhu Aur Shaitaan , Ankhen and
Aulad all in 1968 , Prem Pujari , Abhinetri , Geet
Kati Patang , Khamoshi
Humjoli , Samaj Ko Badal Dalo all in 1970, Sanjog,
Bombay to goa , Lalkar Anuraag , Mere Jeevan Saathi all in 1972 and many many more till his last movie love and god in 1986.
He was also one of the Bhojpuri cinema Hussain and produced and directed Bhojpuri film Hamaar Sansar . He was also credited for the hit Bhojpuri film Balam Pardesia in the late 1970s.
He acted magnificently in all his movies in various roles such as Police officer , as a caring father , doctor, priest , poojari , munsif , college principal , lalaji , magistrate and several others .
He always portrayed as a noble man on cinema screen and was superb in performing emotional and sentimental roles just like his contemporary- Manmohan krishan .
He expired on 16 October 1987 at bombay at an age of 65 and left behind memories of his about 500 films .
